Bomb squad called to ‘suspicious’ object in Kirkcaldy

An Army bomb squad raced to a Fife beach after a “suspicious” object was found in the sand.

The team from the Royal Logistic Corp attended at Seafield beach in Kirkcaldy at lunchtime on Thursday.

It’s understood that the object was destroyed in a controlled explosion on the sand.

A spokeswoman for Police Scotland said: “Around 12.35pm on Thursday September 10 police were called to a report of a suspicious item discovered on Kirkcaldy Beach, Esplanade.

“Officers and EOD are in attendance and the item has been removed for safe disposal.”
